Locomotive 23 Getting a Drink of Water
Green Bay & Western's locomotive number 23 takes time out from its journey west for a drink at Scandinavia's water tank. The 4-4-0 American was built by Dickson in June 1891 and was scrapped in June, 1941. The inset photo was taken prior to the locomotive leaving the shop at which time it had a kerosene head lamp as opposed to the electric one shown in the large photo. The inset photo is from the Schnectady Historical Center. While the water tank and depot are long gone, the building in the background is the Scandinavia Co-op Produce Co. which is still standing to this day.
